CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Orthopaedic disorders are lifechanging ailments that touch every one of us, whether personally, or through the challenging experiences of family members or friends. The Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) seeks to support and promote musculoskeletal research that will make life easier for those affected by these debilitating disorders.
The ORS Annual Meeting will take place February 7-11 in Phoenix, AZ, with the theme for this year’s meeting being, “Science is Our Core.” The event will bring the orthopaedic community together for five days of scientific symposia, career development workshops, learning sessions, networking opportunities, poster presentations, awards for outstanding researchers, advocacy, exhibits, business innovation platforms, and much more.
Over 2,500 attendees from many disciplines and career levels will gather at the meeting to network and learn about the latest in research for musculoskeletal health. ORS Board President, Susan V. Bukata, MD, FAOA, FAAOS states, “The Annual Meeting is the biggest event of the year for the ORS. The meeting is a great opportunity for researchers from all over the world to gather and share the latest research that will help to improve the lives of those affected by musculoskeletal conditions.”
Spotlight speakers from the world’s leading institutions will present at the Annual Meeting, addressing a variety of topics, including, pre-operative visualization; mechanical biomarkers in bone; biomechanics; new skeletal stem cells; decorin; osteoarthritis; ligament repair; cartilage regeneration; meniscus injuries; discogenic pain etiology; orthopedic therapies; fluorescence microscopy; and more.
As part of the Annual Meeting, the ORS will host its fourth community outreach event called Open Door. The program was recognized with a 2024 Power of Associations Silver Award by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) interest and careers among underrepresented students in local communities. This year, the ORS will partner with Arizona Association for Middle Level Education (AzAMLE) and Rogers Ranch STEM Academy to host 120 local middle school students for a series of hands-on workshops designed to inform and inspire. About the event, Jaimo Ahn, MD, PhD, Chair of Open Door, proclaimed, “Imagine an open door that welcomes the curious into a world where they can see themselves unravel the mysteries of biology, employ the power of mechanics, and restore the miracle of motion. We will share the love of orthopaedics with our next generation, right at ORS Open Door!”
